Faith that shows up on Strongs Avenue
Our giving and our volunteer hours go to work a few steps from the sanctuary door.
Rutland Neighbors, Inc.
What began in 2017 as the “Comfort Zone” — a warm, safe room and a light breakfast — now feeds hundreds of homeless and marginalized neighbors breakfast and lunch four days a week, with a food pantry and a clothes closet.
Dismas of Vermont
Since 1986, Dismas of Vermont has provided shelter and support to people making the difficult transition out of incarceration. People here at Rutland Methodist provide meals and other support.
Our Pastor
Rev. Dr. Tom Atkins
Tom was called to Rutland UMC in July of 2024. Raised in the Methodist Church, ordained a deacon in the Baptist Church in 1984 and licensed as a United Methodist pastor in 2015, he is bi-vocational — also a leadership coach, a published poet, a writer, an artist and a photographer.
“I do not care what color you are, what your sexual orientation is, where you are from, where you have been — you are a child of God and deserve to be loved and accepted as such. Period.”
